If you are an experienced Sous Chef with a passion for cooking and looking for an opportunity to escape the big smoke this summer, we have a cracking opportunity for you which includes free accommodation.  Our client is a very popular country house hotel on the outskirts of Fort William in the heart of the Highlands.  As you can imagine, the tourist season is kicking into full swing with the schools out for summer, and the weather hotter than Tenerife!  The kitchen is very busy right now and needs extra support with its popular Bar & Bistro menu, which has a range of traditional offerings with a modern twist.  We are looking for a Sous Chef who can slot into the team for the summer season with a potential for longer-term opportunities.  You will receive free accommodation as well as a competitive £12 per hour, therefore, you will have ample opportunity to savour the brilliant summer we are having in one of the most stunning and picturesque locations in the country.

About the Job

As Sous Chef, in this role, you will assist and support the Head Chef in delivering the food and beverage offering for the hotel with a strong focus on ensuring you utilise appropriate resources to meet financial targets.  You will support the kitchen in delivering quality food for a variety of events and functions as well as providing a full catering service for rooms and restaurants.  You will also be expected to set and maintain exceptional performance standards through the effective use of kitchen resources and ensuring consistency in quality and value.  The guest experience is paramount, and we would expect you to be setting a great example for the junior members of the kitchen to ensure that company standards and statutory obligations are maintained, acting for the Head Chef in his absence.

About the Person

To succeed as a Sous Chef, you will most likely have successfully operated in a variety of different kitchen environments with varying priorities and challenges at different points during your shift.  Success in this position will be determined by your attitude, reliability and the ability to work well under pressure and within a team environment.  You will also most likely have a natural confidence with a good attention to detail and warm personality, and above all a passion and enthusiasm for cooking.
