About the Role

We are on the hunt for a talented Assistant Accountant with a high level of attention to detail and first-class communication skills.   The purpose of the role will be to support the financial leader within the Accounts Department, providing accurate financial support, particularly with regards to compliance and statutory regulatory requirements.

About the Job

To succeed in this Assistant Accountant job, you must be goal orientated and be willing to take ownership for allocated tasks and complete within given deadlines.  As you can imagine, a high level of numeracy will be expected and the ability to understand the specific nuances of the business to ensure accurate and efficient accounting practices are maintained.

Your key responsibilities as Assistant Accountant will be to provide support services by working with all departments to maximise business performance.  You will be responsible for the preparation of monthly journal entries as well as input towards the Mapics International Financial Management System (IFM).  Typically, you will also be expected to prepare monthly management accounts, department overhead statements and the provision of financial information to Team Leaders and Managers.  There will be a range of ad-hoc projects to keep things interesting, therefore, it is desirable that you have an eye on career progression within the Accountancy field.

About the Person

To succeed in this role as Assistant Accountant, you will need to balance a variety of different tasks and prioritise effectively.  You will also have a clear focus on high-quality service to external and internal stakeholders.  As a natural forward planner, you will be to identify and deal with potential issues quickly and effectively through good organisation and excellent communication skills.  Given the variety of different tasks that you will be expected to undertake, your adaptability, positive outlook will be important attributes as will your competence in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet applications.  The ideal candidate will have an Accounting related qualification and/or previous experience within a busy Accounts team.
