About the Role

We are on the hunt for a talented Accountant with a high level of attention to detail and first-class communication skills.The purpose of the role will be to provide accurate financial support to our client on a short term basis.

About the Client

Our client is a small business based in the South East of Glasgow who provide industrial support to a broad range of clients. Services offered include fabrication and welding, plant maintenance and structural steel. They are renowned for the high standard of service delivered which has lead them to built an excellent reputation within the engineering sector. 

To succeed in this Accountant job, you must be goal orientated and be willing to take ownership for allocated tasks and complete within given deadlines.  As you can imagine, a high level of numeracy will be expected and the ability to understand the specific nuances of the business to ensure accurate and efficient accounting practices are maintained.

Your key responsibilities as Accountant will be to provide support services by working with all departments to maximise business performance.  Typically, you will also be expected to prepare monthly management accounts, department overhead statements and the provision of financial information to Team Leaders and Managers.  There will be a range of ad-hoc projects to keep things interesting.

About the Person

To succeed in this role as Accountant, you will need to balance a variety of different tasks and prioritise effectively.  It is essential that you have a working knowledge of Sage 50 and are able to demonstrate experience in working with this system. You will also have a clear focus on high-quality service to external and internal stakeholders.  As a natural forward planner, you will be to identify and deal with potential issues quickly and effectively through good organisation and excellent communication skills.  Given the variety of different tasks that you will be expected to undertake, your adaptability, positive outlook will be important attributes as will your competence in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet applications.  The ideal candidate will have an Accounting related qualification and/or previous experience within a busy Accounts team.
